according to the national energy substitution strategy and unified deployment, with the support of the national development and Reform Commission, the 200000 ton cassava fuel ethanol project of Guangxi COFCO biomass energy Co., Ltd., with an investment of 757million yuan, was completed and put into operation in December 2007. As of March 15, 2011, the company has produced more than 480000 tons of wood 2 and liquid crystal Chinese character display potato fuel ethanol, and sold more than 4.4 million tons of ethanol gasoline for vehicles, which is equivalent to replacing nearly 450000 tons of petrochemical gasoline resources. After three years of construction, Guangxi has successively built five high-yield cassava bases of 650000 mu, signed cassava purchase order contracts with more than 30000 farmers, plus the purchase of retail investors, to achieve the purpose of waterproof and 45000 farmers. Since the end of last year, due to sales difficulties, the finished fuel ethanol products produced have been unable to be stored. Beihai cassava ethanol factory began to significantly reduce the purchase of cassava, and the enterprise was forced to stop production completely
according to Liu Shuhai, general manager of the company, the economic losses of enterprises after being forced to stop production are as high as millions of yuan per day, and the purchase contracts signed with 45000 farmers are also difficult to be fulfilled. It is expected that the income of potato farmers will be directly reduced by about 350million yuan this year. At present, the work coordination team led by the Energy Bureau of the national development and Reform Commission has gone to Guangxi for on-site investigation
